COLEMAN SKYDOME TENT
Skydome model from Coleman is a high dome unit that offers 20% more headspace than other traditional dome tents from this company. Its nearly vertical tent walls are making the room higher, offering you more headspace for comfort.
The model has a center height of 4 ft. and 8 inches which is a good height if you want to sit normally inside.
The floor dimensions are 8 x 7 feet and can occupy up to 4 people but I suggest that you share the room with less.
You will be able to fit a queen-size airbed or four sleeping bags inside. Its weight is 11.6 pounds which means you will have to transport it to your camping location.
This 4-season tent is made of synthetic material and a durable groundsheet. It has a bathtub-style floor so groundwater can’t splash inside. It includes a strong fiberglass frame that withstands up to 35 mph winds.
This car camping tent features Coleman’s patented system that includes a WeatherTec system and a fly that covers 3/4 of the structure to stay dry in the bad weather.
However, some water can leak inside through the seams so it’s better to waterproof them additionally.
It also makes a small awning above the main doors to protect the interior from getting wet. However, if the rain falls from the side, the interior can still get wet with the door opened.
The Coleman dome tent features a wide O-shape door and mesh roof areas to provide views and ventilation.
It is made of synthetic material and mesh that covers more than half of the shelter (providing privacy while laying with the fly off), so enough air can circulate with the help of the mesh door.
Some of the air can come in under the fly when you are camping on a rainy day to prevent condensation.
There is a large mesh pocket (4 small ones, each for a camper) on the right side of the wall when you enter the room.
A gear loft is included as well to store your essentials to keep them at hand.
- Easy & fast assembly
- 20% more headspace than other traditional dome tents
- Withstands wind well
- Small awning
- Tub-like floor
- Could leak at the seams
- Not for cold temperatures
- No fly vents

If you intend to go summer camping with your friends, and family (including a pet) this cabin tent is one of the best tall camping tents that you can use.
This is a square 6 person tent that you can set up for various situations. The camping cube can be used as a canopy or as a camping tent that will protect you from the elements in the first three seasons.
The 6. 4 camping cube measures 111 x 111 feet and has a 6’4” center height which enables you to move freely inside without bending.
You can put 2 queen size air beds inside for comfort. It is a car camping tent as it weighs 18 pounds.
The tub floor is fully sealed to provide a dry camping experience, however, this is not a tent that will protect you from heavy wind and storm because it’s not meant to use in bad weather.
The EZ-UP company includes an 8′ x 2′ entry mat to avoid dirt inside.
This tall tent has large doors so you can put assembled camping furniture inside with ease. Three large windows with mesh can be opened for views and ventilation.
Do you have a pet? Plan family camping trips with him as the structure has a pet door with a wet weather flap so the animal will get in and out of the camping tent easily without tearing the tent’s fabric.
This family tent includes #10 heavy-duty zippers that are easy to use. It’s user-friendly as it has a power pocket that enables to run a power cable through to charge the gadgets.
The unit has O-ring attachment points to illuminate the place and pockets to store the essentials.
It’s one of the cabin tents that is easy to set up as you extend the frame tent poles and attach the tent fabric on with the big straps.
This tent for tall people is set up with the frame and canopy that aren’t included in the package so you must order them separately.
When buying the frame and canopy make sure that the model is compatible with the camping cube 6.4.
Suitable canopy models:
10′ x 10′ Vantage, 10′ x 10′ Pyramid, 10′ x 10′ Eclipse, 10′ x 10′ Enterprise, 10′ x 10′ ES100S, or 10′ x 10′ Hi-Viz.

Teton Sports made an instant tent for you to go on a solo adventure. Its dimensions are 80 x 37 x 34 inches which make this structure one of the instant tents high enough to sit normally inside.
If you are around 6 feet tall (not taller) then you should lay inside quite normally with the feet slightly touching the inner layer.
You can place a sleeping bed or mat inside. Its pack weight is 4.6 pounds so you can take it on camping or going backpacking where you won’t walk for long distances.
The body of the Vista 1 person quick tent is manufactured by 75D 190T taffeta material, the same as the fly that has 1200 mm PU coating for rain protection.
The waterproof coating is nothing to brag about but this 3-season tent is great to use in dry weather with some rain.
This long and narrow tent features one door. It is a double-layer unit that includes a mesh inner tent and a rain fly.
I like how the inner fabric is made as it will give you privacy while you are resting. Two-way zippers will ease getting in and out of the shelter.
The fly goes almost all the way down to the ground, providing decent weather protection, however, you should know that it can leak in the rainstorm due to the low waterproof coating.
You can make your model more waterproof if you get the elite rain fly that covers both the shelter and the cot all the way to the ground (you can order them below).
Most part of the inner fabric (3/4) is made of mesh material which means that you will have proper air circulation.
The fly goes almost all the way down to the ground which could mean condensation inside but there is a small gap between both layers so some air can go in and out and you can also open the door. No ground vents are included in this model.
Good to know: If you get the elite rain fly you will be able to use a roof vent on the backside of the structure to increase the airflow and prevent condensation build-up!
It is interesting to see a (mesh) gear loft in this backpacking tent since most of the single-person tents don’t include it.
No additional pockets on the walls but a gear loft for one person is sufficient to store some of your small essentials.
GET ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT
You can have some extra benefits for your excursion if you get additional outdoor equipment besides this automatic model. I already mentioned the elite rain fly and the cot in the previous lines.
Getting both of the gear will increase the weather protection greatly as you won’t be laying on the ground and the fly will cover the shelter and the cot all the way to the ground.
OPT FOR A CAMPING COT
If you don’t like to sleep on the ground or you intend to camp in colder temperatures then I suggest you get the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL camping cot that fits with the Vista 1-person model.
OPT FOR THE ELITE RAIN FLY
To be fully weather protected, get an elite rainfly that will fit the Teton Sports Outfitter cot and the Vista solo tent.
It has a roof vent that an ordinary Vista model fly doesn’t have and provides a closed space under the cot to store the camping gear that you don’t want to have beside you in the tent (there is also not enough space for this, only for you).
- Very easy to set up
- Quality materials
- Durable seams
- Good ventilation
- Stargazing option
- Compatible with elite fly and Outfitter camping cot for a greater comfort
- Doesn't hold heat well
- You will touch the walls with legs and head (if you are taller than 6 feet)
- Condensation may occur in wet weather

This is a Mesa canvas tent from Teton Sports that you can use throughout the year, no matter the weather situation.
Canvas tents are good for cold weather camping because they hold warmth well. So, if you worry about the weather and your comfort, this family tent might be for you.
It is made in a cabin shape and measures 120″ x 120″ x 78″. It is one of the tall camping tents due to its 78 inches that enables you to walk inside standing (if you aren’t higher).
This 6 person tent weighs the most of all tents on the list (68.3 lbs) so you will have to transport it with a vehicle.
Its standard capacity is for 6 people but 4 or less of you (perfect for solo camping as well) will camp comfortably in it.
This cabin tent is made of waterproof canvas material and steel tent poles that will withstand the heavy tent material and bad weather with the wind.
Ventilation is taken care of due to the fact that you can open 2 large windows on the doors to have criss-cross airflow without the bugs. Roof vents on this tall tent let the hot air out to prevent condensation.
You can carry assembled camping furniture inside due to the two wide D-shape doors.
This all-season tent has an extra-thick vinyl floor that withstands regular use and different kinds of terrains. Still, it’s better to prevent the unexpected by ordering a Mesa footprint.
There are two big gear lofts and a wall organizer included for you to store the necessities. Two E-ports will make your camping even better because you will run power inside the tent easily.
This unit has a built-in awning that keeps the sun out of your tent and also offers rain protection at the entrance. The setup is easy with the T-1 top bars.
- Four-season tent
- Easy setup
- Thick vinyl floor
- Good ventilation
- Large D-shape doors
- Awning for element protection
- E-port and pockets for storage
- Heavy (needs transport)
Browning Camping Big Horn Tent
This is a 5-person cabin tent that is one of the best tents for tall people due to the fact that it’s the tallest tent on the list.
It has a base size of 8′ x 10′ and a center height of 84 inches that is enough for the majority of tall campers to camp comfortably.
The product’s weight is 21 pounds so it’s considered a car camping tent that needs transportation to the camping location.
The Browning Camping freestanding cabin tent is made of 75D 185T polyester fly and 150D polyester oxford floor with a 2000 mm coating to protect you from the elements in the first three seasons.
The structure includes 11 mm fiberglass poles and 19 mm steel tent poles for extra strength.
The Big Horn is a tall camping tent that has one high doorway where you can enter and exit the shelter with ease. There are 3 big windows with mesh and panels to adjust the air and light inside.
This is a 3-season tent that is meant for camping in warmer weather. It features 4 windows (each on a side), a big D-shape door, and a mesh roof so the air can circulate.
The company didn’t include any ground or fly vents but the air will come inside through the mesh roof above the doors that has an awning.
The rain fly covers a mesh roof and half of the pole legs while providing an awning to protect the interior from getting wet.
With the 2000 mm HH level, you will stay dry in the normal rain. Weatherproof fly buckles take care of maximum adjustability and protection of the structure.
The Browning Big Horn tent includes factory-sealed fly and floor seams.
Straight sidewalls enable a space for putting 5 sleeping bags tightly together but this is possible only if you are camping with close friends.
In reality, it provides a comfortable space for two people (with a small child). There is a wall organizer with 3 mesh pockets where you can put small necessities.
You will have it ready in about 10 minutes.
- Reasonable price
- Spacious and very tall
- Good ventilation
- Sturdy leg poles
- Big windows for airflow
- A small awning above the doors
- Small for 5 people
- Heavy to carry
- Not appropriate to use in heavy rain
- Not for cold temperatures
What is a good tent for tall people?
The height of the tent is the most important factor to consider when buying a camping tent as it decides how much headroom and comfort will you have on camping.
The height of a tent is even more important if you suffer from back pain. For those of you who like to extend your legs, make sure to buy a model with larger width as well as length.
Pro tip: Measure your sleeping gear so it will fit a shelter comfortably (the best is that the camping gear doesn’t touch the walls) and make sure you will sit normally inside without bending the neck and head (measure your torso).
HOW TALL SHOULD A TENT BE?
Here you have two options when it comes to choosing the right camping tent for your needs.
Its height depends on your needs. If you like to sit inside without bending your torso and having neck pain then you should pay attention to the center height.
Choose a taller model where you will be able to do sitting activities with ease. If you intend to spend some time inside then consider this factor first.
If you are more of an adventurous type and won’t spend much time in the shelter then the height isn’t so important. Instead, pay attention to the length.
If you need a long shelter to sleep cozy then focus on the length itself to have a good night’s sleep without having to bend your knees.
WHAT IS THE BEST TALL DOME TENT?
If you will camp alone or with your partner and kids you should take a look at the Coleman Skydome model.
It is a dome-style shelter that has a 20% higher center height than other traditional Coleman dome tents for camping.
This particular model has 4 ft. and 8 inches center height which offers the comfort that you need while sitting and reading. You can choose among different sizes.
WHAT IS THE TALLEST CAMPING TENT?
The Browning big horn tent is the tallest tent to consider for camping due to its center height of 84 inches.
It will fit most tall campers unless you are very tall. It is a cabin tent with almost vertical walls that provides space for comfortable walking and resting.
WHICH IS THE BEST TALL CANVAS TENT?
I choose the Dream House cotton bell tent with 3 meters (118 inches) in diameter. The center height is 78.7 inches which are enough for you to walk freely inside.
It is made of 285gsm beige cotton canvas that is coated with a 3000 mm waterproof coating. The floor has a 5000 mm coating so you will be safe from the groundwater.
This shelter is magnificent and is the right choice for you if you intend to camp with other campers in the same shelter.
With the quality material and high hydrostatic head, you will stay protected inside and enjoy your free time.
WHICH IS THE BEST TALL CABIN TENT?
The 3-season cabin product from Browning Camping is a great shelter with a high center height (87 inches) that provides enough space for sleeping, and activities without having to bend.
You will put furniture such as sleeping beds, chairs, and closets inside with ease.
The Big Horn is a freestanding cabin tent that has a 10′ x 15′ base size and is made of 75D 185T polyester fly and 150D polyester oxford floor with a 2000 mm coating.
With a room divider, you will be able to have privacy.
There is a lot of mesh windows that provide airflow and great views so it is perfect to use in nicer weather (but it also includes a fly to keep the interior dry when it rains).
WHAT IS THE BEST TALL TUNNEL TENT?
Coleman Coastline 3 Plus is a tunnel structure that offers 2 rooms; one for daily activities and the other for sleeping and resting.
The bedroom has 86.6 inches in length which will be enough for you to sleep comfortably without the need to bend your legs.
It provides a space for up to 3 campers as it has an 86.6 x 78.7 inches sleeping area. The living area is great for relaxing after lunch in your favorite chair and storing the gear.
The strong polyethylene groundsheet is lifted so the groundwater won’t splash inside so easily.
CAMP IN A COMFORTABLE AND SPACIOUS TENT
