Who is this tent for?
Camping tents come with different setups. An easy-pitchable tent is for those of you who are:
- Not willing to follow the tent instructions
- Not interested in the hassle of setting up a tent
- Impatient
- Beginners
- Ready to start enjoying nature ASAP
- Want to relocate your tent without dismantling it
Easiest tents to set up
I will talk about two tent types that are the most common choices when it comes to the easiest tents to set up alone.
First, we will look at the pop-up tents that pitch instantly without any effort and then look at the instant tents (automatic tents) that are set up by extending the telescopic poles.
You will find instant camping tents in different shapes (cabin tents and dome tents). The shape of a tent is important because it will determine the type of your outdoor excursion.
If you are going backpacking then you will prefer dome tents over cabin tents because they are smaller and lighter.
However, if going on a family camping trip, you will want to go car camping in a spacious cabin tent that offers more space and comfort.
Pop up tents
These tents are made of a fabric that is designed to automatically snap into place when it is released from its storage bag.
All you have to do is take it out of the case and open it up, and the tent will do the rest.
Instant tents
The second type of the easiest tent to set up is an instant tent. An instant or automatic tent has poles that are already stitched into the fabric and simply need to be released from the carry bag.
All you have to do is unfold the fabric and extend the poles, and the tent will be ready to use.
What is the easiest tent to put up?
Here are the camping tents that I chose to be the easiest tents to put up.
Coleman instant cabin tent
- WeatherTec system's welded corners and inverted seams keep water from getting in
- Integrated rainfly improves airflow
- Double-thick Polyguard 2X fabric stands up to the elements season after season
- Instant setup in as fast as 1 minute
- Dimensions: 10 x 9 ft.
This Coleman instant cabin tent is great to have if you intend to camp with your loved ones on a weekend or take it on an occasional camping trip when the weather is nice.
The Coleman cabin tent is made to occupy up to 6 campers inside but you can choose a tent version for 4 or 10 campers as well.
The 6-person instant cabin tent measures 10 x 9 feet and has 6 feet center height which is enough to camp comfortably. You will be able to put 2 queen-size air beds inside for cozy sleeping.
It weighs 24.9 pounds which means you will have to transport it with a car or other type of vehicle to your campsite.
The Coleman cabin-style tent is made of a double-thick Polyguard 2X fabric that is the best material to use when setting up a tent.
This fabric is incredibly strong and can withstand even the roughest weather conditions.
Still, this Coleman cabin tent is made for camping in the first three seasons. The integrated vented rainfly offers weather protection and provides better ventilation.
The WeatherTec system includes welded corners and inverted seams to stay dry on a rainy day.
However, you can still have some water inside when camping in heavy rain or storm so make sure you waterproof the tent additionally or place a tarp over it to avoid tent leakage.
The model has a D-shape door, and big windows with flaps all over the tent to provide better views and airflow. Two storage pockets are included for item organization.
It sets up like other instant tents; fast and simple, in about a minute. You just have to get it out of the storage bag, spread it on the floor, extend the pre-attached poles and lock the system for security.
Buy a rain fly for the rainy weather
Because some customers complained that the ventilation is not the best when the tent is fully closed when it rains, Coleman started to sell rain fly also.
With it, you will have increased rain protection and have the option to open the top of the windows to have better airflow to avoid condensation.
You can check it out through this link.
- Fastpitch in a minute
- Great for warm weather
- Standing inside
- Plenty of windows
- Storage pockets
- Additional waterproofing for bad weather is recommendable
- Not enough airflow in the rain without a rain fly
- No electrical cord access port

The dome tent has a vestibule (7.85 square feet) where you will store and protect your camping gear from the elements.
No matter that this isn’t an instant or pop-up tent, its setup is really simple due to Kelty Quick-Corner Technology which makes the pitching process easy and fast (a minute or two) in any weather situation and even in the dark.
It’s a freestanding tent so you can erect it and then move it to the other location without dismantling it.

The Ayamaya tent is one of the fastest setting tents on the list because it opens automatically (due to the pre-attached poles) when you grab it from the carry bag, remove the strap, throw it in the air and set it so it will be fully standing.
This 6-person easy pop-up tent has 12.5 x 8.5 feet of floor space while the peak height is 53.5 inches. It can accommodate up to 6 people but you will be more comfortable with fewer (perfect for 4 campers).
The groundsheet is manufactured with PU-coated polyester and has a 4000mm HH. The rest of the tent has a 3000mm HH which is a good waterproof rating for a 3-season tent.

You can increase the ventilation on warm days by opening doors as well. This tent has rear hooded vents so condensation shouldn’t be a problem.

CORE Instant Cabin Tent
No products found.
This is one of the best instant camping tents from CORE Equipment that is ready for you to take on family camping trips.
It is one of the easy set-up tents that you won’t erect for eternity. It’s one of the best instant cabin tents because the setup should take around a minute or two which is not usual in such large camping tents.
With the 14′ x 9′ floor space you will have space for up to 9 people (6 campers comfortable) and be able to put 2 queen air mattresses inside.
With the 78 inches center height, you will be walking inside with ease (except for the tallest campers). The weight of this spacious tent is 35 pounds so it’s a car camping tent that needs transport.
The 9-person instant cabin tent features water-repellent fabric and active bead technology for faster water run-off.
It’s made of durable 68D polyester but it has only a 600mm hydrostatic rating which means it’s appropriate to use in nice weather. A fully-taped rainfly of the instant setup tent takes care of the rain.
This 3-season instant tent has one D-shape door and one double door for convenient access to the tent. Now you will be able to carry your camping stuff inside already inflated.
The CORE cabin-style tent is a very bright tent, with lots of mesh for ventilation, so it’s great for summer camping with other people. It has an adjustable ground vent where the fresh air will come in while the hot air will escape through the mesh roof.

If you are a camping enthusiast and want to camp all year round you will need a decent camping tent to beat the elements and stay comfortable.
This Geertop tent is made for all four seasons so you can enjoy the outdoors whenever you want.
The Geertop dome tent bearly has space for 4 campers, measuring 6.7 ft. x 7.8 ft.
It’s more reasonable for 2 people who want comfortable camping. The peak height is 4.5 ft. so there’s plenty of headspace to sit and change clothes.
The basic tent comes with 210T breathable polyester, while the floor is made of quality 210D PU 5000 mm Oxford fabric that is durable and should last for years.
However, it is kind of thin so you better have a footprint along to protect it from tear and wear.
This tent has a fly that is made of anti-tear polyester that has a 3000mm waterproof level. It is one of the dome tents that feature aluminum tent poles that are strong and light at the same time.
Regarding weather protection, it has a snow skirt that will make your interior dry and safe from the wind. The fly is full-coverage so you don’t have to worry about elements and leakage.
It features 2 D-shape doors for convenient access. There are 2 small half-circled windows at the bottom on each side of the unit to allow the air to circulate.
This durable tent has some mesh material at the top that helps let the hot air out. The company included a fly vent on each side to beat the condensation when it rains or snows.
Two vestibules provide a separate place for storing wet shoes or hanging wet clothes. This is the only tent on the list that has an awning.
You can set it up if you open the vestibule’s door and put poles to hold it up. It’s great for shade and to cook a meal under it.
The Geertop 4-person tent sets up easily. All you have to do is to set the poles through the fabric sleeves, stake it out and you are ready to enjoy the surroundings.

A pop-up camping tent from Coleman is a quick tent that sets in seconds so if you want to enjoy your camping activities as soon as possible, it’s one of the best pop-up tents to consider. It’s great for summer camping.
This one-room tent has dimensions of 9 x 2 ft. and comes with a 3 ft. 4-inch center height.
It’s lightweight as it has only 7.07 lbs, so it’s a good option for campers who will carry the tent for some distance.
The instant camping tent is great for festivals when you need a shelter fast. But it’s not so good for backpackers because of the large disc shape when being stored in the storage bag.
This Coleman tent can occupy up to 4 campers but I recommend it for 2 campers with camping gear, you will be more comfortable. A queen-size air mattress will go inside this instant setup tent.
Regarding the width size, those of you who are more than 6′ high, you could touch the tent walls with your legs and head when you turn at night, so consider this when buying an easy tent to put up.
This 3-season pop-up camping tent is made of waterproof polyester and mesh to provide ventilation. The poles are preassembled to provide no waste with the setup.
The company didn’t provide any info about its waterproofness but as it’s not a winter tent, it should protect you from light to normal rain (but not the heavy rain and snow).
But this portable tent has taped floor seams for added protection against water and debris.
The model has mesh windows with a panel on the top so the hot air can escape. You will easily enter and exit the tent through the large door.
Two storage pockets are included for storing small essentials like keys and a fleshlight.
- Sets up in about 10 seconds
- Simple, user-friendly design
- Lightweight
- Two internal storage pockets

This is a family camping tent that is one of the most rear large tents that pitch fast and will surely attract attention at the campsite.
The Ozark Trail instant tent has space for up to 12 people who can be accommodated in the 3 separate rooms.
You can set up the rooms of this Ozark Trail tent with 2 dividers.
I like how these dividers are made as they offer full privacy that not every camping tent with a room divider has. Each room can fit a queen airbed.
It’s an L-shaped tent that measures 16 x 16 feet and has a center height of 82 inches so it’s a huge tent with plenty of space for comfort and activities with your kids.
It weighs the most of the pop-up tents on the list (55 pounds) so you will have to transport it with a four-wheel vehicle.
This 12-person instant cabin tent is made of a waterproof 68D-coated polyester fabric that will protect you from the normal weather elements in the first three seasons of the year.
Its welded 6” tall tub floor protects you from the groundwater.
The 3-room tent has 7 fully-closable windows and 2 doors (one large and one D-shape) for easy tent access.
The ventilation is increased by 2 big ground vents (where you can place a standard window AC) at the bottom of the shelter and plenty of mesh material on the roof and windows.
This breathable tent has a large rain fly that covers the meshed roof and provides a spacious awning to enjoy family camping in the shade.
The Ozark Trail 12-person instant cabin tent is easy to set up due to pre-attached tent poles and will take about 10 minutes to erect (don’t mind the Amazon’s setup time that is just not real). It’s still a fast set-up time for such a roomy tent.
You can place an electric cord through the E-ports that can be closed with a zipper when not in use so the critters can’t get in. There are enough mesh compartments on the walls to put camping necessities in.
You will be able to hang a lantern only in the middle room. It would be nice if each room of this Ozark Trail tent has it but you can improvise by placing a standing one in other rooms as well.
- Huge space for comfort
- Highly breathable (great for warm camping days)
- 3 rooms available (full privacy room dividers)
- AC compatible
- Spacious awning
- Enough storage pockets in each room
- E-port for having electricity inside
- Not so durable
- Can leak in the rainstorm
- Only one loop for hanging a lantern
How big of a tent do you need for one person?
If you will camp alone then you need to find a tent that will provide enough space for sleeping and your gear.
This is especially important if you will backpack because you will want to have your gear dry.
You can choose a tent that will also have a vestibule since you will be able to store camping equipment there.
A vestibule also serves for additional weather protection and different camping activities such as cooking over a camping stove or hanging wet clothes.
In general, choose an instant camping tent or pop-up tent that has space to at least accommodate you and your sleeping bag.
How long do tents take to set up?
The tent’s setup time depends on the type of tent and how familiar you are with setting it up. Generally, a simpler tent will take less time to set up than a more complex one.
Usually, a bigger tent pitches longer than a smaller tent. If you’re unfamiliar with the tent, it’s best to read the instructions carefully before starting. In most cases, tents can be set up in 10-15 minutes.
What is the quickest tent to set up?
A pop-up camping tent is the quickest tent to set up because there is no assembly required – the tent pops up and is ready to use.
Other tents may require poles to be erected or strings to be tied, but a pop-up tent can be set up in just a few seconds.
What is the easiest tent to put up?
If you want to erect your tent fast without putting effort into it then it’s best if you opt for a pop-up tent.
These tents can be set up in seconds and don’t require any assembly. All you have to do is take them out of their carrying bag and they’ll pop up into shape.
What is the easiest 2 person tent to set up?
One of the easiest pop-up tents is the Coleman pop-up tent and the Ayamaya pop-up tent.
Both tents have pre-attached poles and a pop-up design which means that you will erect them by removing the security strap and throwing them in the air.
Can one person set up an instant tent?
You can set up an instant tent alone because the frame is pre-attached to the tent. Simply extend the frame (pole by pole), stake down the corners, and secure the rainfly.
Here is how Gregory Randall sets his Coleman 10×14 instant tent by himself in only 4 minutes.
However, some people may find it helpful to have someone else hold one side of the tent while they set up the other side.
This is obvious in the Ozark Trail 12-person instant cabin tent due to its huge size.
How fast can you set up a tent by yourself?
Instant tents can be pitched in seconds or minutes tops.
These tents have telescopic poles that are permanently attached to the tent body. You literally just have to unfold them, stake them down and you’re good to go.
Other traditional tents with ordinary pole setups may take a bit longer to get ready, but can still be done relatively quickly with some practice.
If you’re new to camping, it’s best to practice setting up your tent at home before you go so you’re not fumbling around in the dark when you’re out in the woods.
How do you set up a tent for yourself?
No matter if you have an instant tent or a pop-up tent you should always read the instructions first (if the tent has any).
There are a few basic things you need to do to set up any kind of tent:
–Find a level spot to pitch your tent on
-Make sure there is nothing in the way of where you want to put your tent (roots, rocks, etc.)
-Put a tent footprint or a tarp under the tent to protect its floor
–Pitch a tent
–Stake down your corners
-Put your fly on (the rain cover) in case you need it
Most tents have a similar assembly process, but there may be slight differences between them.
Once you get used to a tent’s set up you won’t bother with the pitching process anymore and be able to enjoy fun camping activities.
How do you set up an instant tent?
If you will opt for an instant tent then you should know how to set it up properly. It usually takes less than a minute to have it done.
Most instant tents are freestanding and do not require stakes for setup. After removing it from the carrying case, spread the tent canopy and locate the four corners.
Then, insert the poles into their corresponding grommets and snap them together. Finally, extend the tent’s shock-corded poles until they are taut and stake down the corners of the fly.
Some instant tents also come with a rain fly which you can attach if it looks like it might rain.
Are instant pop-up tents any good?
Instant tents are one of the latest inventions in the camping world. Because a tent is an instant model it doesn’t mean that it’s made of less-quality tent material than other standard pitching tents.
On the contrary, the best instant tent manufacturers are giving their best to provide a user-friendly outdoor experience with the use of their products.
How long does it take to put up a 6 person tent?
The setup time of a 6-person tent depends on the type of tent and the experience of the person putting it up.
Generally, it takes around 10-15 minutes to set up a 6-person tent. However, if you are inexperienced or have a complicated tent, the tent setup could also take up to 30 minutes.
The setup time decreases when camping with a pop-up camping tent or instant tent. In this case, it usually takes less than 5 minutes to set up the tent.
